Kathy has been working with swimmers since 1999, when one Orange County Swimmer decided to use her for weekly sports massage while he was training for Sydney in 2000.  Through him, she got involved with USA Swimming the opportunities started rolling in.  She’s been to Shanghai for World Championships, and done massage at the Duel in the Pool meet, where the US goes head-to-head against Australia.  And Three Times attended Olympic Trials.

This year, the US National Swim Meet, and Pan Pacific Games are both coming to California!  Not just anywhere in California, but Irvine!  Kathy has been invited to volunteer as National Team Massage Therapist for both meets, which are between August 3 and August 23.   Swimmers know, Massage helps with Recovery, which keeps them strong throughout their intense training and week-long events.

Kathy is well-matched by another therapist at Dynamic Touch.  Katcha Minot, whose resume is just as long as Kathy’s,  is on her way at the end of August to the Chula Vista Olympic Training Center.  It’s run very much like a college campus for athletes in training.  They have dorms, and training facilities for many different sports.  Katcha will be working in the Athletic Training Center doing massage for athletes that reside there, and are visiting for training camps.  It’s a very exciting atmosphere, and a huge privilege.

Chuck uses massage regularly to recover and remove toxins after his workouts.  Sometimes his neck, back, hips and knees get sore. “Massage helps keep me fit to allow the pleasure of injury-free riding.”

He may ride hard, but Chuck listens carefully to his body’s signals.  Months before his trip, he felt minor pressure in his chest when he was pedaling hard, so he went to his physician to check it out.  It turned out he had a blockage in an artery of his heart, and required immediate angioplasty to install a stent to unblock it.  But don’t worry, this hasn’t slowed him down at all.  He still rides aggressively, takes his doctor’s advice, and encourages everyone to get regular checkups and listen to their body, too. He’s an inspiration to cyclists everywhere!

Millie has goals of becoming a National Champion, this year she competed in all three categories of State Championships where she got the Silver Medal for the Road Race and Crit. At Nationals, she also competed in all three categories, and earned a Bronze in the Time Trial.  She loves the sport of cycling and would like to see more women and junior women in the sport. Hopefully, she can inspire more juniors to participate in cycling.   She dedicated her season to PJ, a boy her age with Cancer, and she is raising awareness through Team Duke for him and for cancer.
